Did You Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate over the Long Weekend?

Once you understand how important that is for your mind, body and spirit, and after some coaching perhaps, you'd learn to take a three day weekend EVERY weekend.

What would life be like if you were to work just Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday, that's what I do! Why? The connection of the mind, body and spirit are so critically important to being happy that you have to do all that you can to feed your brain positive messages to STAY happier, healthier and financially free!
The connection between mind, body and spirit and rest, relax and rejuvenate is very interesting. The mind needs to rest, especially to continue to be creative. The body needs to relax for greater health and the spirit needs to rejuvenate, perhaps with a walk near a beach or in the woods, but you have to have time for that and not just work-work-work.
Let's first look at the mind and the rest. If you are in a business or work, such as mine, where the mind is used constantly thinking and creating, you must create environments of peace and tranquility to rest the mind. This is why so many writers head off to cabins to do their writings. I personally prefer the beach, but it is the lapping of the waves for me that gets me creating. Whether it is a cabin or the beach, the point here is that the restful environment is the space to create. Given you may not be a writer, your mind still needs rest for whatever you exercise it from in the course of a week, month and quarter to avoid burnout.
The burnout "feeling" comes from doing unfulfilling work, or non stop work, which both create pressure and the lack of fulfillment has you constantly asking why, taxing you brain and putting your mind into overwhelm, and then it screams for a break or rest.
The body acts similarly when you don't relax it properly. You get body aches for no reason, your joints aren't as limber and in some cases stiffen up, or you get mild cramping. This is your body calling out to you for a break. In extreme cases anxiety attacks and mild heart attacks can occur and in the worst case scenario a stroke could occur, which could be devastating. Bottom line; your body needs a break. This is why we are advised to only workout 4 or 5 days a week, to add some RECOVERY time into the mix. That is in essence what I mean when I say relax.
Some people go straight from working long and hard at work, to working on the yard, or working with the kids, or working a second job, or even third job??? I hope you have a plan for the cash from job two and or job three, otherwise that cash will be gone and you are killing yourself too!
Why do this? Why put your mind and your body through the turmoil? Wouldn't it make more sense to figure out a better or different way? Eventually your body will show you the signs of stopping this madness before your mind will. Your mind is just a machine that supports you along the way, it just runs with what you tell it to do, it doesn't know yes from no, do it don't do it, right from wrong. It just processes the info you give it and stores certain things away for later usage into your protective memory so it can be your guardian or centurion later.
The body however will "break down." It will work for you for so long and then rather than all out quit on you, it signals you to "slow down" as some people call it. Really it is saying relax, take a break, I need a break. And if you listen and in fact relax, you get to use it again, usually even stronger than before the relaxation, but if you don't relax, well that is another story isn't it.
And now spirit. Spirit or spirituality for me is co-creating. I believe in God (you could believe in Buddha or The Big Bang Theory or whatever you believe) so their is a higher power, the creator of my world. But I get to co-create! Why? Not in a Godlike way, but in a "this is my life" kind of way. I get to create my future but I am unable to do that with the best judgment and discernment unless I frequently rejuvenate my spirit. I have a happy go lucky spirit and when I don't take the time to rejuvenate, that happy go lucky spirit gets tired and sees negative things it otherwise doesn't see. Instead of seeing the forest and the trees, I might see the pine beetle devastation. Instead of seeing crystal clear streams, I see the trash on the banks, instead of looking out over the beach's horizon line, I see the smoke pollution from a boat's gas engine. I star to see the wrong things, the wrong orientation, which throws my spirit completely off.
Over this long FORCED weekend, I was conscious of all three things: resting, relaxing and rejuvenating. So what did I do? It doesn't have to be some doctor approved plan, just a variance in the work routines. For the rest portion I slept til 9 or 10am all three days instead of getting up at 530am as I usually do. The extra sleep does wonders for everything: body, mind, cells, skin, bones, organs, everything. That little adjustment was enough to get the added rest that I need. And how do I know? I woke up feeling stronger and stronger each day and today, Tuesday, I feel like Hercules, ready for any challenge; mental or physical, I am 100% ready to go!
How about relaxation? Well after about 20 hours on PS3 games, I also watched a few movies, had a bottle of wine with my sweetheart both Saturday and Sunday, went in the hot-tub each day and played with the dogs (three English Setters) and raked the dog run. All very much fun!
And for rejuvenation? When you are in the intellectual property business and you are the creator of the "property" the best thing you can do for your creativity is to walk away. So other than two emails I sent (because I don't even look at email during the 4.5 day weekends) which took maybe four minutes, I didn't work or think at all. And again I feel good about my first work task after the holiday, writing this blog post.
Many years of transformational work on myself (about eight actually) finally taught me what works for me and what doesn't. All of this is possible for you to as well. So either you learn this stuff on your own (which takes forever), or a coach leads you to it (thank God) or you suffer for a lifetime of work-work-work, no rest - no relaxation - no rejuvenation, and what suffers is your mind (not happy), your body (not healthy) and your spirit (you are not free in ANY way). This is far what we teach, having a life of abundance and opulent life. Get the coach you need to help you! Don't forget grants and rebates are available for individuals and businesses to pay for it.
How can you benefits from this lesson? Are you resting properly and frequently enough? Are you relaxing your body so both your body and your mind get strong again? Are you ready for the next challenge because you are rejuvenated and ready to begin a new and exciting endeavor?
Are you on the path to freedom? That path being to start the journey to be happier, healthier and financially free in your life? Is abundance possible? Is opulent comfort with reach? The answer to all of these is yes if you choose them, but they won't come easy and they won't show up on their own either. A long weekend is an opportunity to reflect. Did you? Particularly on Labor Day! The idea is to recognize and acknowledge labor, but not to work!
There are four months left to your 2008, have you created your plan to start living the life you dreamed of or are you saying "Holy crap it is September already, where did this year go?" If you said that and are not on the path to freedom, you could be wasting you life away. I'd like to create URGENCY in you and your life RIGHT NOW!!! Accidents happen, people die, and if you are just puttering through life as though you will be here forever, you are DEAD wrong!!!
You mind, body and spirit call out to you for rest, relation and rejuvenation, this is one time that you want to listen to that little voice in your head. It';s a warning sign that you need to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF and everything else will just have to wait. And it will. Trust me, it will be there waiting for your return. But you will return stronger to face it, and in the face of that, with your new found strength, the things that seemed to large and insurmountable are reduced to tiny tasks with little or know thought because you are rested, relaxed and rejuvenated - How Cool!!!
